The funeral of Aileen Maxwell took place on Monday at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church. Aileen was the wife of Colin Maxwell and the mother of David and Kerri.Colin passed away in November 2015.
Aileen was born on the 30th of September 1938 and died on the 30th of December 2017.
The Maxwells have had along association with the Whites and rugby in general. Aileen was the long-time voluntary secretary of the Australian Schoolboys while the president Brother Bob Wallace was at St. Edmund’s.
Aileen is the first and at this stage the only woman life member of the Schoolboys. The life membership recognized her outstanding contribution.
Son David and grand-son Ben Gisik reflected on the Aileen’s life from the time she met Colin, building their home in Park Street and spending a long life together.
Aileen worked at the Queanbeyan RU licensed club as well as trying to keep Col under control.
In later years the grand children became a focus with David and Donna’s children Oliver and Alice, and Wally and Kerri’s Jakob and Benjamin fussed over and loved so unconditionally.
Ed Sheeran’s Supermarket Flowers was played at the ceremony and the final verse sums up Aileen’s life-“ I hope I see the world as you did cause I know -a life with love is a life that’s been lived.”
