Farewell Jack

Jack with mates Mick and Huck

The funeral of John “Jack” Maguire was held on Tuesday the 15th of January at the Norwood Park Crematorium. A large crowd , many in colourful shirts, of family, relatives and contingents from Royals, the Whites and Norths were present.

Jack was a boarder at Waverley College and enjoyed being a life guard at Bondi beach. When he moved back to Canberra he played with Royals, then Queanbeyan and Norths. He was part of premiership teams with both Royals and the Whites.

An ACT representative player, he was a centre of excellence and a prolific point scorer. In 1979, he won the highest point scorer with 116 points and in the same year was named the Whites most consistent. In 1980 he was named first grade best and fairest. Jack played was the 15th player to play 100 first grade games with the Whites.

He never minded a good time with plenty of laughter and hi-jinks.

Our prayers and thoughts are with his family.
