Long weekend then Tuggers

Only thirds and fourths play this weekend with the other grades having a bye. Thirds (First division first grade) meet the Eagles at Nichols at 12.15 while fourths(First division second grade) play at 10.55am.

The third grade competition is a real battle with Hall the stand out side and well clear in first spot. But then there are six teams battling it out for the other three places in the final four. Gungahlin and Queanbeyan are level pegging and so this week’s game is a critical one. Both sides will be hit by absenteeism with many players providing a note from their mothers.

Fourths will suffer as players move up to thirds but that allows the bench players of recent weeks to get plenty of game time.Coach Wade Smith may even get a run or a slow walk.

Training has been restricted with the closing of the grounds on Tuesday. Council has advised that Campese is open today (Thursday).

Old Boys Day is on Saturday June 18th with the old boys’ game to be played before second grade at 1.10pm with the colts game shifted to the earlier time slot of 11.45pm.

The day will feature the opening of The Col Maxwell Balcony and the presentation of a 100 club tie and badge to prop Chris Barbaro.
