The funeral of Queanbeyan club stalwart Colin Maxwell OAM will take place on Monday the 23rd of November at St. Raphael’s Church at 10.30am.

Col was a life member of Queanbeyan and the ACTRU, club captain over five years, a 200 first grade game player and the club’s most successful first grade coach. He coached the Whites when they won premierships in 1981, 1982 and 1983. He was named the Michael Hickey Coach of the Year in 1987.

Not only was Col and wife Aileen heavily involved with the Whites they were also great contributors to school boy rugby and in particular St. Edmund’s College and the Australian Schoolboys.

Col also coached ACT representative teams. His no-nonsense approach as a front rower was also evident in his coaching but it was always accompanied by a sense of humour. His half time speeches were legendary and many a school boy blushed when Col was using the full range of the English language.

Past players, committee people and supporters will form a guard of honour on the day.
