05 Jul Crunch time
It is crunch time for the Whites’ first grade playing Gungahlin at Nicholls. The ladder tells the story with Erindale on 54, Royals on 48, Qbn on 37, Uni-Norths on 36, Gungahlin on 30 and Wests on 29.
In the last three rounds after Eagles, the Whites meet Easts and Royals before enjoying a bye in the last round. Easts have Uni-Norths, Queanbeyan, Gungahlin and Tuggeranong. The Owls have Easts, Royals, Wests and Gungahlin.
Coach Paul Dillon has made two changes from last week’s side with Toby Wilson coming back from injury in place of Josh Townsend and Isaiah Latu moving to the wing in place of Pecau Lefau.
Reserve grade sit on top with 59 points followed by Tuggers on 50, Owls on 39 and Royals on 37 in what looks like a settled four. The cool boot of Riley Ahern is a key part of the seconds and hopefully he will continue his excellent form.
Colts have the shakes with several key players missing. The new centre combination Lefau and Caleb Malisauskas will be interesting.
Thirds are in a real battle sitting in fifth spot two points out of the four. The revolving door of available players has not helped. At full strength they are a very good outfit. Fourths are second on 42 with a log jam behind them. RMC is on 39, ADFA 37, Royals 36 and Wests on 35. No slip ups allowed.
