13 Jun Drought breaker
In 2007, the time was White for breaking the 24 year premiership drought. David Jones was the last captain to hold up the John I. Dent Cup way back in 1983. Jones predicted that Josh Hasting’s team would lead his team to a premiership over Gungahlin.
Other club’s first grade coaches went for the Eagles except Craig Robberds and Pat Langtry.
The Colts were also looking for a premiership after defeat in the 2006 decider. The Adam Fahey coached under 20’s beat Tuggers 29-24 setting the scene for the first grade.
At half-time in first grade the sides were locked at 5-all but like the previous week the Whites second half was brilliant. Winger Robbie Beath scored early and the side jumped to a 26-5 lead and won the cup with a 33-12 scoreline.
Hastings was man-of-the-match with the team consisting of: Jack Kennedy, Dan Penca, Nathan McGrath, Matt Hirst, Darren Bulley, Joe Kolio, Tom Jones, Jeremy Dowling, Jimmy Maher, John Kevin, Robbie Beath, Richard Windsor, Henry Seavula, James Marmont and Josh Hastings. Coach-Glen Christini.
