Late Frost

Late Frost

ANZAC Day has come and gone, and the weather is supposed to change. Well, the Frost has come to Campese Oval in the form of 2.05m tall Nick Frost, fresh from the Super rugby champion Crusaders.

Frost has returned to Australia to seek an Australian Under 20 spot and link with the Brumbies.

The Brumbies gave Queanbeyan, Wests and Easts an opportunity to register the player. Frost chose the Whites after watching the team against Gungahlin last Saturday.

The towering lock was an Australian Schoolboy and caused a bit of controversy when he signed with the Crusaders in 2017. At the time Frost made the point that he wanted to learn from the best. All Blacks Sam Whitelock and Luke Romano would have taught him a thing or two.

Nick Frost joining the Whites

He will be a welcome sight as the Whites have struggled with locks this season. Frost will play alongside another up and coming youngster Zeph Tuinona with Michael Gordon moving to his rightful position as a backrower. He replaces an injured Ryan Jones.

The most experienced player left in first grade, Jamie “Chainsaw” Marmont is also out of the team to play at Erindale at 3.25pm. Please note that thirds and fourths are at ADFA at 1.30pm and 3pm.

Marmont’s nose was broken against the Eagles and he will miss some games. Add to the woes Soakai Tai will probably be out for the season.

On the bright side is the selection of BJ Jiminez at fullback with Levi Clark moving to Marmont’s wing spot.

Each week the side gets younger and each week the team has a real go. They will need to tough it out again this week.

Reserve grade is looking more and more solid with the side settled and a few starting to make an impression. Lock Sam Perkins is big enough and when he gets fit enough will push for promotion.

Colts will want to build on their bell win last week with the back row of Wyll Holland©, Tom Balogh and Davea Teoteo as good as you get.
