09 Jul Fifita great
Center Tony Fifita showed again why he is an up and coming star at the Whites with a comprehensive display in fourth grade helping the team to a 21-7 victory. He headed the Irish colt Martin Cole and the wizard winger Nathan Melzer.
There was another bole who provided plenty of go, Uatisune Oka, who everyone prefers to call UJ.
Thirds did plenty after half time down by 13-19 but found their rhythm after Go Troppo bananas to win 47-26. Of course it was that man, Aiden Kenworthy, who amazed with three tries, try assists and the best right foot step in Australia. He has size 17 boots and a running style to match.
Meanwhile on ground one, the colts did the usual thing gave the opposition a 19 points start and then tried to catch up. Grumps is there something wrong with the warm-up? After that it was 17-31. Replacement Tony Fifita made an impression and again Lewis Bozatto impressed his grandparents and the referee for yet another yellow card.
On the outer ground thirds were down13-19 yet you knew it was only a matter of time until the greatest runner in the history of mankind Kenworthy made his run. He scored three tries, impressed his girlfriend, and had the rest of us gawking in his long leg runs.
What is disturbing is the run of tries by Daniel Naef. He scored two last week, two this week and is now unbearable. Kenworthy scored three and enjoyed the day with five eighth Tom Mitchell as solid as ever and not using his pace but rather his passing skills to set up the play. Thank you as he is as quick as a turtle.
Colts have a death wish.Tbey would hate to go into a game and win. Not short of talent, not short of ability but short in commitment. Give them a start and then try and run them down. Give them an easy break and try and run them down. A good side going sideways.
Bozzato may get the bin but he is one who does not appreciate going backwards.
Second grade is still the model team. They keep playing a most delightful style of football. Coach Darren Bulley is not a hipster yet his team is the Lonsdale Street of trendiness. At half time it was 17-8 and at full time 55-15. Keith Morgan was there and Moa loved it scoring a couple off JR. Everyone was in the gold rush including that pest Cameron Stanley, Tom G. Darmody, Dan Naef, temporary half Jeremy Taylor and even Poomba.Again Ben Boyton was the inspirational leader.
Royals made an early decision not to run at the centre pairing of kamikaze David Kerr and the brick Morgan. It saved them plenty of pain.
Happy 21st Keith and enjoy the cake.
