The 2008 season started with the Whites winning the pre-season shield and then opening the rounds with wins over Royals 54-0, the Erindale Exiles 41-7, beating Gungahlin to honour Josh Hasting’s 100th first grade game and accounting for Wests 37-20.
The team only dropped two games losing to Easts 22-13 and to Royals 31-5 following a bye.
There were a few new faces from the previous year with the captain of Malta Guy Kennedy appearing for a while. Two Kiwis were pivotal in the success of the side, half Rhyan Caine and lock Andrew Garton. Also adding to the squad were James Stonham, Anthony Hegarty and Lala Lam.
Queanbeyan finished minor premiers and then beat Easts in the major semi to advance to the grand final to meet Easts again. Easts had a lineup which included the Vanderglass brothers Henry and Jack, Reza Almasi, Sam Shirley and Jeremy Osborne.
The Whites won 22-15 and also claimed the colts against Uni-Norths 25-18 and seconds 31-14 over Gungahlin.
Richard Windsor was named most consistent, Lala Lam most promising, Rhyne Caine best and fairest, jack Kennedy best forward and Henry Seavula best back.
