Huge ask and task

Huge ask and task

The Whites face a huge ask and task to match the Brumby-laden Erindale Vikings on Saturday at Campese on Old Boys Day.

Tuggers won the first-grade game in round 50-29 and since then have built up with a 49-21 win over Wests, a 54-17 drubbing of Royals and a round 10 win of 29-20 over University-Norths.

Last year Queanbeyan met the premiers three times and lost all three so there may be little joy this weekend.

Coach Paul Dillon has thrown caution to the wind with the inclusion of Carl Elliot at No 8 and Fred Kaihea at prop. It will be Elliot’s 50th first grade game for the Whites. Both are coming off injuries with Kaihea playing some game time last week in the colts.

Fred is back

The bulked-up pack must gain some dominance to release the backs of potential. Five eighth Will Goddard, fullback BJ Jimenez and centre Keith Morgan have been on song and last week half Mitch Douch stood up.

Reserve grade suffered last time but has gradually improved as players settled into the side. It has been a virtual rebuild and at times they prove tough. They certainly never throw in the towel. Colts need to assert some authority over their competition with a win on Saturday. They will have Davea Teoteo and Vinnie De Masson back and hopefully Haloti Fonua.

Fonua and Jacob Tozer are a strong pairing in the centres which allows some room for the speedsters on the edges.
