18 Mar In for a hoot
The Whites play University-North Owls in the last preseason trial on Saturday at Campese Oval in what should be a hoot. Thirds are at 1.45pm, colts at 3pm, reserves at 4.15 and first grade at 5.30pm
The new generation of Whites’ players will be on show including Wallaby Under 20 hopeful Justin Sikimeti, last year’s ACT Schoolboy captain Will Goddard, dashing Petau Lefau and the blond bombshell Caleb Malisauskas.
It will also be an opportunity for some of the blow-ins to show their stuff with a likely look lock Dan Sweeney, backs Tristan Ferris and Jack Ison finding their way to training from all over the state.
Head coach Paul Dillon has his worked cut out for him with some positions over-subscribed and others lacking depth. Whatever the side it will have to play a new style or structure not seen around the ACT competition.
As they say keeping the shape will be all important. Remember when you just played.
The Owls are fresh from training camp at the Bond University high performance facility and return to Queanbeyan without their first grade coach Doc Doherty who is with the Brumbies women so his assistant Sam French will be in charge. Both have points to prove against their old club.
