Injury issues

Reserve grade has a few injury issues with flanker Lewis Bozzato and prop Sam Bartholomeusz fighting time to get fit. Bozzato is more than likely to miss this week with coach Dave Carter to call on big Sam Perkins and Dan Penca to fill the spot.

Whoever is available will be part of an underdog side given that Gungahlin went through the competition undefeated until Tuggers knocked them off in the major semi-final 46-26. The Eagles have already been grounded in first grade despite all the hype.

While Eagles won 14 from 14, the Whites won five and drew two to sneak a place in the final series. It has been a credit to the playing group and the coach which stuck together and built an enthusiastic and energetic team by the end of the rounds.

Kick off for seconds at Erindale at 1.25 with colts also playing Gungahlin at 11.35 in the battle of the coaching amigos Dan Hawke and Ben McGee. Hawke and McGee have coached the ACT Schoolboys to a national championship and now share the coaching duties of the Australian Schools Barbarians.

Royals beat Eagles 23-22 in the major semi-final and the Whites accounted for the takeaway giants 24-21 in the minor semi. Results during the year were one each with score lines of 21-18 and then 7-38.

Those results may not mean much given both sides will look a lot stronger this time with the Whites bolstered by colts who have had first grade experience.

In other news, the Whites have advertised for a new first grade coach after the two-year stint by Paul Dillon. Applications close on August 21.

Presentation night is being organized by the players committee with tickets now available. It is on Saturday August 31 at the Hellenic Club. For further information contact Daniel Naef, Jeremy Taylor or Luke Cochrane.
