Flanker Ryan Jones’ breakout season was again in the highlight at the Whites presentation night. Jones took out the J. L. Maguire Shield for the most consistent and the first grade best forward award. The other 2016 Macdougall Medal winner OJ Noa took out the player’s player award while the quiet achiever lock Toby Wilson was named the best and fairest.
The Gordon family were also in the limelight, not for their men’s fashions, but for younger Ben taking out the most promising perpetual shield, father Mick the best club person and the older son Jake the sportsmanship award.
Queanbeyan’s firs Wallaby Peter Ryan was on hand to present the highest point scorer award to Angus Balmaks and the Member for Eden-Monaro Mike Kelly did his bit during the presentations.
The coveted President’s Trophy went to the tireless Sean Debenham who coached, strapped and trained the troups throughout the season.
Nearly 200 people were at the awards night at the Hellenic Club with the dynamic duo Malingi and Dominic Finau as the masters of ceremonies leaving plenty of people ducking for cover in their banter.
