Queanbeyan Rugby’s best and fairest Tai Valeni went within one vote to tie the ACTRU’s 2015 MacDougall Medal for the most outstanding player.
Royals’ lock Tom Staniforth won the medal from Valeni by a single vote. Unfortunately Valeni had to compete with team mates Dan Penca and Sokai Tai who also had outstanding seasons and finished in the top ten of recorded votes.
The Whites have only two medal winners with Graham Hughes taking out the inaugural award in 1976 and Ray Watson winning in 1981.
Former Queanbeyan players picked up awards with Carly Hill taking out the ACT women’s sevens player and Andy Goslett awarded second division best and fairest. Goslett took up the coaching position at Bungendore after a successful career at the Whites.
