05 Dec President Pini
The Whites will be led by new president Mick Pini after he was unanimously elected at the club’s annual general meeting.
Pini follows Ian Darmody into the position after Darmody indicated he was not seeking re-election. Other stalwarts Matt Kelly, Gavin Kemp and Phill Hawke also stood down after making significant contributions.
Darmody’s contribution to the club was recognized and is evident in the healthy state of the club’s bank balance, the rebuilding of the player base, appointment of coaching staff and the club’s facilities which must now rate as the best in the John I. Dent.
Pini has a mix of the previous committee and new blood to take the club forward with Michael Gordon remaining as vice-president, Brian Gordon as secretary, Vince Townsend treasurer, Simon Booth registrar, Daniel Irvine public officer with three general committee people-Ian Hunt, Kelvin Armstrong and Grant Jones.
The president of the QJRUFC, currently Jo Cave, is automatically a vice-president of the senior club.
The players’ will also have a position with players’ committee to elect their representative early next year. Dr. Peter Renshaw will be the club patron.
The Dennis Debenham committee room was overflowing with a large contingent of life members, plenty of current players and club supporters.
The AGM adopted several constitutional changes, accepted reports from outgoing president Darmody, treasurer Kelly, Cave on the juniors and Brian Gordon on Googong.
Melanie Debenham’s The White RUC annual report was well received.
