A crowd of 3,000 enthusiastic supporters and a free-flowing game of rugby between the Brumbies and the Rebels at Seiffert Oval was the icing on the cake for the Queanbeyan Whites who helped stage the match with the Queanbeyan Palerang Regional Council.
The Council promotion was a great success with the first ever appearance of a Super Rugby game in the city. The event was up against Chad Morgan at the Bungendore muster, Waitangi Day in the Park, Try Tennis, the Googong fest and the 4-wheel drive spectacular at the showground.
Whites volunteers were out in force to assist in the canteen, bar, mayor’s box and the after-match function.
The Brumbies won 50-19 and the Whites won the appreciation of the two franchises and the QPRC as well as adding to the club’s meagre coffers.
Vanilla Catering’s famous roast rolls went over a treat along with the other goodies provided for the VIP’s.
Four of the Whites allocated Brumbies were on show with Matt Lucas and Lachlan McCaffery joining Andrew Smith and Les Leulua’iali’l-makin
on the paddock. Wallaby Tevita Kurindrani was rested.
