The Viqueens beat the Owlettes 35-0 in the Queanbeyan Sevens women’s cup and Sydney Nadi defeated the Eagles 35-5 in the men’s final played on Saturday at Campese Oval.
The Whites sneaked home in the plate final against Koroturage (20-15) with a golden try and Owls took out the bowl against Easts. (20-15)
Conditions were near perfect for the tournament with cloud cover and eventually a bright sunny afternoon with very little rain.
Four badged referees had assistance from three volunteers with all games covered and nearly all played in good spirit. Thanks go to Ben McGee, Dan Hawke and Cameron Stanly for picking up a whistle. It was also good to see referee advisor Grant Jones take to the field and receive advice from one and all.
For Queanbeyan the stand outs were Wyll Holland and Lewis Bozzato. Both have strength and a good turn of speed. Benny Gordon was also prominent.
